Explore the home

Every room has
a different story.

A symptom is a starting point. Explore the room where you noticed it, then bring the right details into your request.

01

Living spaces

Lights that flicker

Is it one lamp, a whole room or several rooms? Describe the pattern you have already seen so the assessment starts with useful context.

A sensible repair plan

Find the problem.
Then define the work.

A careful assessment separates a repair from a bigger upgrade. Ask what the diagnostic visit includes before authorizing the next stage.

01 / The symptom

What changed?

Where did it happen? What stopped working? Is it one device, a room, several areas or the whole property? Describe normal use without recreating the fault.

Prepare useful notes ↗
02 / The assessment

What needs checking?

Agree on access, who can authorize work and any diagnostic fee. A final repair quotation may depend on the findings at the actual property.

03 / The repair

What is included?

Confirm the proposed work, parts, exclusions, permit responsibility and restoration. Keep the findings and completed scope together.

Keep the handover clear ↗

The repair brief / about 2 minutes

Less back and forth.
A clearer first conversation.

Eight simple questions organize the problem, property and work history. Choose “unknown” when you are unsure; the professional handles diagnosis.

The problem

Start with what you have already noticed.

Keep the completed scope, findings and any open questions together.

Add an observation to your brief

Record what you already know. Do not reproduce a fault to collect information.

Assessment, scope and a useful handover

    Your home / your business

    Repair is not
    one-size-fits-all.

An occupied house, a condo and a working commercial space need different access and authorization plans. Explain the disruption and ask how the assessment will be arranged.

A utility outage is a separate path. In Calgary, use ENMAX Power’s outage map; beyond the city, confirm your serving utility.

Who should I call for electrical repair in Calgary?

For a problem within the property, describe the symptoms to a qualified electrical contractor and agree on the diagnostic scope. For an apparent utility outage, use ENMAX Power’s outage channel. Move away and call 911 from safety for immediate fire, smoke, sparking or shock.

Can I request a repair quote without knowing the cause?

Yes. Tell HAUSE what happened, where it happened and whether it is recurring. Ask for the assessment approach and any diagnostic fee first; a final repair scope may depend on what the professional finds.

Does a tripping breaker mean I need a new panel?

A trip alone does not establish the cause or justify a panel upgrade. A qualified professional needs to assess the affected circuit, equipment and installation. Keep repair findings separate from proposals for added capacity.

Do electrical repairs need a Calgary permit?

The City requires an electrical permit for new wiring and for extending or altering existing branch circuit wiring. It distinguishes that work from replacing fixtures. Ask the contractor which category the proposed work falls into and who will obtain any required permit.

Can HAUSE help with commercial electrical repair requests?

You can request follow-up for a commercial property. Include the affected equipment, operational impact, access contact and who can authorize work. Coverage, availability and any shutdown or diagnostic arrangement are confirmed with the responding provider.

What if I am outside Calgary?

Use the area guides for Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, Okotoks, Langdon, Bearspaw and Priddis. Give the actual community in your request. Permit authority, utility and provider coverage depend on the property location.
